Thank you from Between Friends! |

| Description: | October 13, 2005 Dear Volunteer: Since its inception, Between Friends has relied heavily on the support of trained and committed volunteers to facilitate programming and special events. The Luminaria, particularly, is almost entirely volunteer-driven. Simply stated, without the tremendous outpouring of volunteer support we enjoy each year, we would not be able to host this annual event. Through your help, this year’s Luminaria was extremely successful in kicking off National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and raising awareness about this extremely important issue. Numerous passerby stopped to inquire about the event and to were surprised to learn about its reason behind it. Once an individual knows that each candle in the vigil represents a woman or child who has been killed as a result of domestic violence, it is impossible to deny the severity and epidemic proportions of this social issue. Raising public awareness is the first step toward creating social change. Between Friends cannot thank you enough for your help with this task and your dedication to the cause. We hope you enjoyed your experience at the Luminaria. If you have any feedback you would like to share, please feel free to contact me at (773) 274-5232 ext. 20. Thank you for being an ally in the movement to end domestic violence. We look forward to continuing to work with you. Sincerely, Yesenia Romo, MSW - Director of Programs Between Friends 773.274.5232 x 20 773.262.2543 fax Building a Community Without Domestic Violence |
